random thoughts
Lost in the crowd...that gives a sense of relief doesn't it? To be anonymous, to be unnoticed, to be invisible. To be able to look, for once, at the limelight objectively, like a spectator watching a particularly complex drama:you don't have to take part; you just have to watch, listen and... judge. Losing oneself in jostling streams of people who are oblivious to who Picasso was, what made the Mona Lisa famous, where lies the greatness of Shakespeare(they don't know and couldn't care less!) To be lost in the crowd is almost as welcoming a thought as being engulfed in darkness: the soft, soothing, all-forgiving darkness of the night. Trying to live up to standards, trying to set them, trying to keep prejudice at bay, trying to overcome the desperate sense of alienation all around you can be quite overwhelming at times. The crowd, like darkness, expects nothing, desires nothing, but gladly opens out its arms to welcome you into Anonymity.
