rain-drenched city

Returning home in the car last night...the rain drenched city spread around me.the after-office rush and the streams of people jostling to get back home as soon as possible had ceased...and so, it was mostly the rain and me.Of course with kailash kher's rustic 'sainyaa' in the background, playing on the radio.Through the front glass, frosted with the steady raindrops, the city looked different.Softer somehow.More magical than everyday's mundane and humdrum look.
Like a soggy biscuit.
The street lights were blurred and the pink neon Hutch ads looked soft and inviting.Instead of their usual crispness. The red-light was a small blurry glow at the end of the water-splashed street.I traced my name on the misty glass. The rain swallowed it in an instant.I was nearing home when i caught a glimpse of my favourite tree near my lane silhoutted against the purple-red sky.
and then it disappeared in the rain.
The rain had softened the city a bit.At least, blurred a few of the harsh lines.I felt contented.
